Most of my blogs to date have been about politics, because they have me so fired up right now. But I thought I would take a moment for a lighter subject, the love of Dogs.
It’s no accident that DOG is GOD spelled backward. A dog’s love is the closest thing to God’s love we will ever know. It’s that pure, unconditional, all forgiving, all encompassing love. They don’t care how we look or what kind of day we’ve had, they love us no matter what. They are happy to see us, anytime. No human is capable of that kind of love every day, every moment.
We were talking about how a dog is happy to see you weather you’ve been gone 5 minutes or 10 hours. My friend Suzie said, they don’t know time, there only know HERE and NOT HERE. And HERE, with me, is GOOD and HAPPY.
Rick says my dog knows time, like the word “tomorrow” and we often tell him, “tomorrow, your dad is coming…..”. I think he knows, “tomorrow” means SOMETHING is happening, and he’s ready to have it happen NOW, because as soon as we tell him, “tomorrow….” He follows me around with this question mark look in his eyes, like, “is it time yet?”
Sometimes I often wonder about people who don’t love dogs. These people are not to be confused with some who may not have a dog because they know it’s not compatible with their lifestyle, but they wish they could. People who don’t love dogs are fundamentally different from me. For one, they must enjoy a neater home and a life of order and organization. The price of that though, is that they have never experienced that pure joy of feeling all loved all the time. I think this makes them to a degree, not as happy, not as open minded.
Now loving dogs is not all peaches and cream. There are messes, or “accidents” as we call them. There are vet bills, picky eaters, time management and travel issues. But in the end all these are all infinitely easier than raising a child and the payback in doggie love is good.
Having recently added a new Puppy to our household, Minnie, reminded me of how sweet and pure puppy love is and how grateful we are to have it at the end of a long day.
Those thousand puppy kisses melt away all the stresses of the day and that blur of a wagging tail reminds us that pure bliss is obtainable in this lifetime.
Now if you are one of those elite that not only loves dogs, but CATS too, you are truly special. For you also understand the beauty of Languish, independence, solace, and ornery. You know how to take pleasure from your own ideas and live life at your own pace.
With all that is crazy and bad in the world we are grateful to share our home with our furry babies. We are grateful that they remind us every day, how to love and how to relax.
Enjoy your fur babies too!
